Quarantine in Mauritius : what to expect?

Once you have made your hotel reservation, you will need to book your plane ticket and gather all the documents you will need to enter Mauritius and perform your quarantine.

Documents to prepare

Among the necessary documents, you must first have a negative PCR test performed between 3 and 7 days before the day of departure of your plane.

You must also bring your proof of hotel reservation (14 nights) and a valid passport. We strongly advise you to make photocopies to facilitate your passage before the Mauritian authorities.

The three controls to arrive in Mauritius

The first document check is done before boarding the plane. You must present all of the above-mentioned documents before boarding. If you do not have the necessary documents, the airline will be able to refuse you access to the flight. It is therefore important to make sure that you have all the documents you need.

You will then arrive on Mauritian soil after a few hours of flight, and two new controls will be carried out by the authorities: the identity control and the health control.

For the identity check, you will need your passport, your proof of hotel reservation for your quarantine and your address of residence after the fourteen days. The authorities may question you about the reason for your trip.

Once you are approved to enter the country, you will have to pass the health inspection

During the sanitary control, you will have to present your negative PCR test, your sanitary pass if you are vaccinated, as well as documents that will be provided by your airline.

Once you have passed the various controls, you will be accompanied and taken care of by a person from the hotel, who will wait for you at the airport and will take you to your hotel by shuttle. It is also possible to book individual cabs, which are useful if you have more than 2 pieces of luggage or if you wish to arrive at your hotel in complete peace.

Quarantine procedures in effect until September 31, 2021

Until September 31, you will have the choice, depending on your vaccination status, to book a hotel in closed quarantine or open quarantine. Open quarantines are only available to those with a complete Covid-19 vaccination passport, which is 14 days after the second dose. It is also possible for vaccinated persons to book a hotel in closed quarantine if they wish.

You can choose between several hotels ranging from 2 to 5 stars offering different services and rates. Whether it is an open or closed quarantine, you will be required to take a PCR test upon arrival at the airport, a second test on your seventh day and a final test on your fourteenth day at the hotel.

Relaxing in a closed quarantine

Hotels in closed quarantine do everything possible to make the 14 days go as smoothly as possible.

Relaxation, rest and relaxation will be the key words during your closed quarantine. It is the perfect opportunity to finally take some time for yourself. Meals will be brought directly to your room and the staff will make sure that the barriers are respected.

Enjoying open quarantine

Once the initial formalities are completed, the fourteen days are like a normal hotel vacation. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the restaurant, pools, beach and all the water and land activities offered by the hotel.

You will have the guarantee of a peaceful stay in a beautiful landscape. Although the quarantine is open, the respect of the barrier gestures is applied.

The modalities from October 1, 2021

As of October 1st, if you are fully vaccinated, you will be able to access Mauritius and perform all activities without the need for quarantine. However, without vaccination, quarantine will still be mandatory for 14 days.
