A beautiful family home on the water

Building a family home on the water, inspired by the Mauritian lifestyle, was the starting point of Pascal’s project. The perfect location to make this dream come true presented itself at La Balise Marina. The most noble materials gave life to this magnificent villa, unique on the west coast.

Living in Mauritius and being able to enjoy Le Morne’s lagoon and its turquoise waters, his boat safely housed in a marina, was essential for Pascal when dreaming about his future home.

Strategically positioned, La Balise Marina immediately seduced the rally driver. Living by the sea in a region that has kept its rural character is a privilege this unique place can still offer its inhabitants.

Nature is at the heart of this magical location’s lifestyle, with beautiful hikes within the Black River Gorges National Park as well as various exceptional cycling tracks to explore in its surroundings.

Of course, the sumptuous nearby golf courses - Le Paradis, Tamarina, Bel Ombre and Avalon - have also tipped the balance.

An elegant colonial house

Once the ideal location was found, Pascal designed his unique and authentic property. He speaks passionately about this house, which construction he closely followed every day.

The design is a mix of colonial, Mauritian and contemporary architecture, with 5-meter-high wooden ceilings, lots of stones and a very refined decoration.”

Lighting, both inside and outside, was particularly important to accommodate the early Mauritian sunset. Two swimming pools add to the colonial charm of this villa, the one at the entrance featuring a waterfall pouring directly out of the stone wall.

Built at the heart of the Marina, our home gives us access to the restaurant, the gym and spa, the swimming pool and tennis court, as well as 24/7 security. All this while still being isolated, without a vis-à-vis, peacefully overlooking the river.

This unique villa perfectly reflects the spirit of the BARNES house.
