The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) has implemented a series of compulsory health measures, allowing the country to be granted the stamp of ‘Safe Travel” by the The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). This specially designed stamp will help travellers recognise governments and businesses around the world which have adopted health and hygiene global standardised protocols.

Mauritius is already known around the world as a safe, luxurious and welcoming destination. The country recorded its first cases of COVID-19 in March 2020 forcing the government to close borders. Fortunately, the authorities have been quick to react and have successfully kept the number of infections low, compared to the predictions of the WORLD HEATH ORGANISATION.

Since April the 26th, no local cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Mauritius and the curfew order has been removed on May the 31st. Mauritius is actively preparing to welcome back tourists and travellers. Everything is being done to ensure that this takes place under strict protocols recommend by the WTTC.

Major destinations around the world have signed up for the global safety and hygiene stamp created recently by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), which represents the global travel and tourism private sector.

WTTC’s launched the first of range of new worldwide measures as part of its Safe Travels protocols, providing consistency and guidance to travel providers and travelers about the new approach to health, hygiene, deep cleansing and physical distancing, in the “new normal” of COVID-19 (coronavirus) world. The protocols were devised following the experience of WTTC members dealing with COVID-19 and based on guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Mauritius is proud to be among the most recommended destinations and is getting ready to welcome travelers around the world.
