Ritish VENKAMAH, the art of teaching golf

Caddying for golf players at the Gymkhana Golf Club, Ritish Venkamah started analyzing their technique and rapidly became smitten with the sport that changed his life.

When beautiful Anahita opened its doors in 2008, Ritish seized the opportunity to get involved in the project by becoming a golf attendant in this prestigious golf estate. Ten years later, looking to immerse himself further into this activity, he undertook a 3-year training course in South Africa to become a PGA Golf Professional at Anahita Golf Club.

'Golf is everything to me! It’s a discipline that requires rigor and hard work, reflecting exactly the kind of person I strive to be. That’s probably why we found each other...'

Over the years, Mauritius has become a very famous golfing destination, with over a dozen championship golf courses and a selection of real estate developments allowing golfers to benefit from all related amenities; villas, restaurants, beaches, spa... At Anahita, Ritish meets golfers from the world over, who either reside or return to the island every year to play golf.

Though often seen as inaccessible for most people, Ritish believes Mauritian golf is moving in the right direction, thanks to the various competitions organized by the Mauritius Golf Federation or as a result of projects like “Golf for all”, introducing children from neighboring villages to the practice of this sport.

'What is lacking in Mauritius today are golf practices that open their doors to all at affordable prices.'

As a member of the Mauritian golf team for a few years, Ritish traveled a lot, going to Africa to represent his country or visiting the most beautiful French, Swiss or Italian golf courses, thanks to clients who with time have become close friends.
