Buying abroad: Mauritius, a top-of-the-range destination

The mild tax regime and beautiful beaches make this Indian Ocean island a destination of choice for French investors.

"In 2002, a law was passed allowing foreigners to become property owners on the island," explains Outi de Falbaire, representative of the Barnes network in Mauritius. "However, to ensure that Mauritians do not fall victim to property speculation, foreigners can only buy in certain very specific areas."
